Broadford Primary School in Romford has been named both Primary School of the Year and Overall School of the Year in the prestigious national awards run by the Times Educational Supplement.

The awards recognise the outstanding efforts that education teams make to help students both inside and outside the classroom.

The school has raised reading attainment with book clubs and reading leagues and every child has opportunities to visit museums and sporting events to give them different cultural experiences, as well as learning new skills to get them enthusiastic about school.

The judges were also impressed with the school’s work to support other primaries in the local area. Their choice of Broadford as School of the Year was unanimous.

They said: "The school goes far beyond traditional expectations of education."
